I am all for a spooky Halloween photoshoot. Especially if it has an edgy twist to it. I had been itching to do a creative shoot for so dang long – and luckily, I have the best friends who are down for anything. Kora and Justin were such a vibe during this moody pumpkin head photoshoot in Central Washington. The skies were overcast, the terrain was desolate and rocky, and we had the whole place to ourselves. What more could we have asked for!?

I first connected with Kora a few years back on Instagram. Instantly, she was just one of those people who I felt like I’d known my whole life. I’ve had the honor of capturing so many special moments in her life over the years. And some of my favorites have been between her and her sweet boyfriend, Justin. Another app played into their love story! They actually met online; Kora has a really supportive following over on TikTok (@kora_the_herbivora). It’s safe to say that to know Kora is to absolutely adore her.

Capturing Kora and Justin in the Central Washington desert sparked so much joy in my heart. We headed about an hour northeast of Yakima for the dramatic landscape and I’m so glad we did! We broke out some orange and blue smoke bombs which were absolutely perfect for the vibe. The edgy vibes were elevated with Justin’s skateboard and Kora’s fun roller-skates. But one of my favorite parts of this session is that we didn’t stop with pumpkin heads! We took some spooky ghost photos and I’m obsessed. Again, one of my favorite trends: Kora and Justin put on white sheets and some retro sunglasses – forever living for these!

Ugh, I could honestly go on and on about this session, but the photos speak for themselves. This moody pumpkin head photoshoot was the perfect way to put my creativity to use. Take this as your sign to go for it. If you see a trend or have an idea come to you, DO IT! All it takes is reaching out to your friends or putting a feeler out on Instagram.
